Kyrielle

A kyrielle is made of quatrains that rhyme. Each stanza (that is, each quatrain) includes a repeating line — typically, but not always, as the final line of each stanza.

Each line in the poem has eight syllables, and there is no limit to the number of stanzas. Most kyrielles include three or more stanzas.

Any rhyme scheme may be used.

The Right Is What Feels Wrong

I walked throughout my house today
Reflecting nights too long far gone
And thinking thoughts that have no say –
Tonight, the right is what feels wrong.

I tend to wonder 'bout my days,
How short they are, and yet so long
They take my fragile breath away –
Tonight, the right is what feels wrong.

A life is but a thread that frays,
And slips from hands to where it longs
To lie — I will escape to pray.
Tonight, the right is what feels wrong.
